Take a tour of Middlehurst Station in a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Guided by a family member, you will learn about the area and the High Country way of life. Stop for a picnic lunch at Middlehursts musterer's hut, and keep an eye out for wildlife grazing on the mountains.

Hire a Trek mountain e-bike to get a little further with your time. Wind your way along the Middlehurst farm tracks or cycle to the start of Molesworth Station and explore the historic cob cottage.

WOOD FIRED HOT TUB

A natural spring at the base of Mt Lookout feeds our wood-fired hot tubs. Positioned for privacy, they offer a peaceful soak in pure mountain mineral water. Includes preparation, lighting, and stocking, so the tub is hot and ready on arrival.

Star Gazing

Boarding the Kaikōura Dark Sky Reserve, Middlehurst’s night sky reveals the Milky Way, the Southern Cross, Scorpius, and other familiar constellations.

Animal Encounters

Collect eggs from the hens’ nesting boxes, pat the station horses, and watch the shepherds working the yards near the lodge. Above, spot Harrier Hawks circling the sky, along with the curious sight of Oystercatchers coming inland to raise their young.

Outdoor Fire Pit

Gather around the fire pit and take part in a true Kiwi tradition, building the fire, toasting marshmallows on a stick collected nearby, and sharing stories as the High Country settles into night.
